The Barn was built in the late 1920's by the Cook family, later, their daughter purchased the property and it stayed in the family until recently. The barn was used as a dairy for many years. Members of the community reminisce about dances, haunted houses, playing basketball, church activities and making memories over the years. In 2016 the Barn was purchased and renovations began, to create an elegant space for weddings, gatherings, and other events.
Work began as soon as the Barn was purchased by the current owners. The main level had stalls that were removed and repurposed into banquet tables that are now used during events.
Upstairs, in the loft the walls and ceiling were reinforced with over 900 2x4's to adequately support the weight. Each rib was originally constructed 1x4 boards 5" thick. With the new 2x4's each of the 32 rib is now 13". The center of the barn was sagging two feet, so a lift was used while the supports were added.
Construction on the Barn was held to commercial standards so it received the same bells and whistles as a new building. A new HVAC system was installed to keep it toasty in the winter and cool in the summer. 13" of insulation was added to the walls and ceiling. A fire suppression system was installed throughout the whole building. A lift was also added to one corner of the building for accessibility. The original windows on the main floor were replaced and new windows were added in the loft which let in beautiful natural lighting. A bluetooth sound system and microphone was added that works on both levels and in the yard.
Sheeting was added to ceiling and then tongue and groove pine planks were added to the ceiling and the two end walls. The side walls had moulding installed with board and batten. All of this was painted white and then accent beams were installed on the ceiling.
3 large chandeliers were installed using a lift and string lights were added below to create an intimate atmosphere.
The main floor was split up into large center foyer area, a food prep area, two bathrooms, and two dressing rooms. A staircase and elevator lift take guests to the upper level.
.The interior of the Barn is now completed. The exterior has some painting and rock will be added to the foundation. There is a large parking lot on the west side of the Barn and a beautiful yard on the east side.
